This hot-dip galvanized carriage bolt provides corrosion resistance for outdoor or wet applications. The galvanization process applies a zinc coating 2.0 to 4.0 mils thick, protecting the steel substrate from rust and extending service life compared to plain or electro-galvanized finishes. The square neck below the domed head prevents rotation when the nut is tightened.
Used for fastening wood to wood, or wood to metal, particularly in treated lumber or marine environments. The zinc coating will dull over time to a grey patina, indicating continued protection against atmospheric corrosion.
